Affordably Priced Hosting Plans for Your Domain Names

There are 2 items you demand in order to set up a web page. The first one is a domain name that will show your web site when you type it in a web browser, and the other one is a web hosting plan, which is inherently the disk space on a web hosting server where the site files will be placed, plus several more features that are included in it. The domain and the web hosting package are two similar, yet different services, and you demand them both to have a functioning online portal.

What is a Domain Name?

A domain name is the alpha-numeric name that you will pick to be the address for the web page: my-best-domain.com, for instance. A domain name can be up to 64 symbols long and it contains 2 components – a Top-Level Domain (TLD) and a second-level domain name (SLD). In the aforementioned example, my-best-domain is the second-level domain name, and .com is the TLD. While you can pick the Second-Level Domain of the domain name to be anything that is free to register, there is a set number of Top-Level Domains to choose from. The top-level domain names can be generic (gTLDs) or country-code (ccTLDs), and can be registered for a certain span of time between one and 10 yrs. They may contain other specifications concerning the registrant.

Domain Web Hosting Services

As the domain is just a hostname and nothing more than that, you need a web hosting account where you have to accommodate it. In this way, when you type it in a web browser, it will show the website files that you have in the account, i.e. it will display your site. You can have a domain name registered with a particular company and get the hosting service from another, even though a lot of hosting providers provide both services and it is more user-friendly to administer all services from a single web hosting Control Panel interface. Either way, because the domain name registration and the web hosting account are different services, you have to point the domain name to the web hosting server where it will be added as hosted. To achieve that, you have to change a particular setting, or record, of the domain name - the commonly named name server records. Each web hosting distributor has at least two name servers - ns1.hostmagi.com and ns2.hostmagi.com, for instance. The website hosting CP that you use for your domain name gives you the option to alter the name server records and point the domain name to one hosting distributor or another.

The Necessity for Dependable Website Hosting Services

The moment the domain name is pointed to a given domain hosting vendor and is added to their servers, you will get a number of online services. The most vital one is that the site files that you have on the server will now be exhibited when you type your domain in a browser. You will also be able to establish mail addresses like [email protected] and make use of webmail or a mail client to tackle them. Whether you own a personal or a business web site, being online and being allowed to set up mails with your domain name are the two most significant options that you receive with a web hosting plan. If you host a business online portal – it will single out your business before your visitors or clients. This is why you require a reliable web hosting company that will offer a reliable and steady website hosting service.
